Trend VS Sustainable
Our lack of consistency proves us that we are human and that constant change is the only thing consistent on this earth. The struggle to consistently practice healthy choices is what kicks us in the butt when were faced with falling off the health-wagon. New year's resolutions only last for a good 30 days, and we're back to old habits that die hard. And see, this is probably the loophole we've been trying to dissect, the loophole of 'habit'. If we can have a habit, why not create a good one? Nothing lasts forever, and not everyday is exactly the same. My point is this, what is a trendy healthy lifestyle VS a sustainable one?
What is exactly something you can commit to as oppose to something you just want to try for now, and see if it will work for you? Are you forever going to do crossfit? Go to the gym in the morning? Yoga every damn day? run? hike? eat vegan? eat high fat keto? The list of these trends go on and on and on...it makes me even crazy running through a list of food-choices that are considered healthy to one, and indifferent to some.
See here lies that beautiful diversity of how different each individual is from one another. The way you eat breakfast is very different from the way I devour mine. For the obvious matter that I don't eat breakfast during breakfast hours like the rest of the population. But see, that's okay. This is one example of a habit that was so hard to break, all my 30 years I have been used to eating a hearty meal of breakfast in the morning as soon as I wake up. Now, that all has changed. So, it is doable do break bad habits and replace them with new ones. This is called 'rewiring' your mindsets.
Once an intention is set, anything is possible. Being perfect is not an option, I tell myself. Being intentional is recommended, and the effort of trying is always the hardest part. For me, making a habit sustainable took a lot of tries and failures and mistakes, even setback of bad-thinking "F this, I should just give up". Instead, I have a mindset even as a younger individual to always keeping my word, even to myself. The result is always different from me, sometimes it's not what I've expected, but most of the time I think it was meant to be. Think of it as a commitment to marriage you'd like to carry on with yourself. You show up, you own it, and you get to have bragging rights to it! It is yours.
Things strangely happen for a perfect reason. How we got here is always a mystery.
