Hygge: Danish Art of Happiness

It's not all candles, flannels and bonfire.
Really.

Hygge, pronounced as Yoo-Guh, is a Danish word I recently learned that does not have an English translation. Hygge can mean taking pleasure form the simple, cozy things in life and the company of friends. Hygge is a way of life not quite minimalism, but tied in together by the trends. Hygge is well thought and mindful appreciation around you. Hygge is the feeling of belonging, of home, of togetherness, of all kinds of tiny celebrations that bring people together.

I adore it.
The concept is too beautifully put together that I want to learn more about it and maybe constantly apply it to my everyday life. I've been trying to practice minimalism in little aspects of my life and mindset, but Hygge sets up a whole different ball game.

I visualize Hygge as being grounded in the simple things of life where one takes pride to breathe in and out the blessings of the Universe. I feel that the concept of Hygge is letting go of material things that does not serves its purpose. It's about being present, treating yourself good, sharing, gratitude and humility.

Have a little Hygge in your everyday practice, it's hella sexy.
