Talk To Strangers

Casually, I was not planning happy hour that conveniently had me at 5pm-7pm, locally here at the Towneplace Marriott property by the Miami airport. I sat on the bar after fiddling my toes in their pool's cold water, masked like it was warm because of its jets pressurized blowing out the side walls of the pool.

By the bar, the slow moving happy hour of the property allowed me to sit on the bar and have a chat with the lovely bartender. She handed me the house wine, of course I requested chardonnay, and asked me where I am from. As I shared this piece, she mentions how she worked all the major raves and musical festivals in the west coast, from some of which I've been in complete attendance for the past couple of years. She shares her career of 20 years, of how she traveled from one music festival to another, camping, not sleeping, and tenting the country as a vendor.

I was fascinated.
I was amazed by this woman's energy.
She narrates how she goes from one festival to another, packing up, flying and setting up again. She said that she makes a lot of money and the experience is crazy. She told me she used to be full time, but it took away so much time when she got older, so she let go of those hours and does it part time now.

Listening to her story, I felt connected to her in a way through music festivals. That, and it was fascinating to sit there and explore someone else's perspective on life. No matter how different we are from each other, we also have great common aspects we each share with one another, joy in the things we love.
