Toni Teaches Steps to Kombucha
You are on the right path into better gut health, friends!
1. Beg someone to give you a layer of SCOBY, more than likely they will give you one--donate a layer, save guts! Now, if you don't have savvy-healthy-gut friends to save yours and give you free SCOBY, well then too bad for you.
Ha! Just kidding...you can spend money and buy yourself your own 'starter scoby' HERE, then you could be the cool kid that gives them away to your friends
2. Get yourself a big jar just like the ones you and your friends use to mix lemonade and tequila for pool parties, YES--THAT kind.

3. Now, do you know how to brew tea? As in, black tea? Ok--then there, you've nailed the core value of kombucha-making. You will be using 10 organic black tea bags, 1 gallon of water to boil it in and 1 cup of white sugar. Proceed as if you were brewing your own afternoon tea.
4. I have no patience (or time) to wait for the freshly brewed tea to cool down so I normally would dilute it with fridge-temperature distilled water. Once you get this all settled and cooled off, you are ready to pour this mixture of black tea in your large jar.
5. This step is optional. Your Kombucha Jar can sit on top of a warming mat/pad, so you don't have to worry about killing your scoby. But, if you're sure that you have controlled temperature and your house is not freezing at night, then it'll be okay. I usually advice my friends to place the Kombucha Jar next to your fridge, but the kitchen counter area.
6. The SCOBY is Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast, meaning--they like to be in amber conditions--in the frikkin' dark! They don't like the sunlight or artificial light as well. I usually cover the top with just a paper towel sheet rubber banded on the rim, the regular hand towels to cover the whole jar from the light.
7. Wait for a minimum of 14 days to 21 days. You can watch NETFLIX and binge on your shows while you do so.
8. If you have any more questions about my Kombucha-Brewing process, as most of you will have them, I'm going to refer you back to this exact same blog. :)
