Sugar Addiction

Sugar, just like any other addiction should be regulated by the government to an extent. We are surrounded by this day in and day out. They are literally everywhere, from what you drink to what you dip.

Step 1 is admitting you have a problem.
I have been approached by a number of clients with this confession, and I do feel for them. I listen to the way they admit that they have a problem with sugar, and how it controls their life. I do believe it shouldn't be taken lightly, as if it was normal to actually have desert for breakfast.

Prior to step 1, we have to be fully aware that this great nation of ours set us up for failure. The eating habits were designed by the belief that 'breaking your fast' in the morning constitute of breakfast sandwiches, sweet treats such as donuts and muffins, with a number of sugar-induced foods to spike your sugar and give you that HIGH you've been waiting for, conveniently disguised as 'energy' you needed to set your day up. Little do you know that by lunch time, like a craving crack addict, you need to shoot right back again for the next high: LUNCH.

Our bodies were designed to be satiated with whole foods that will not only last us up to 24 hours, but will give us pure clean energy without the crash and without the clouded brain activity. Friends, we need to realize--you're not supposed to be tired after 'eating', you're supposed to be 'energized'. If you get tired after eating with your so-called food coma, recognize yourself that you ate too much or ate a suspect food.

Why is sugar bad? Here, we can read what most of us already  know for sure. But, notice how your body reacts to sugar. Sure, it's a quick hit and high, then what?

I know I could just be babbling about sugar addiction here, but I can guarantee you--I have witnessed this firsthand how it can really spin you around and 'round. Don't let the sweetness fool you, even the devil wears Prada.
